Classroom Expectations
1. Speak in Chinese at ALL times:
In order to speak in English you must receive permission from the teacher before asking, “wǒ kě yǐ bú kě yǐ shuō yīng wén?” (May I speak in English?)
2. Participate:
Students are given participation grades every few days. The grade is based on their ability to communicate with their classmates and teachers, work ethic and attitude towards learning.
3. Respect others:
Listen and look at others when they are speaking. Disruptive and disrespectful behavior is not tolerated. Violation of this rule results in lunch detentions and notification to parents or guardians. After 3 notifications, administration will become involved.
4. Be prepared to learn new material:
Language requires constant review and previously learned material is vital to learn new material. It is very important to study every night. There may be pop quizzes on previous material in the current Unit.
5. Come to class on time:
As soon as you come to class, start your Do Now or reviewing flash cards with a partner with yesterday’s homework on your desk.
Keep In mind:
Music lessons: You must sign out one day in ADVANCE, or you will not be allowed to attend your lesson. You may need to re-schedule your lesson if it occurs on the day of a major assessment. Homework assignments are due as if you were in class.
